Getting Started
New to MarketRada? Work through these steps first — then jump to your role below. You can register with email or Google, operate multiple dashboards from one account, and watch the intro video at the top of this page.
What you'll need
An email address, Nigerian phone number, and a secure password — or a Google account.
Steps
- Option A — Email: go to Register (`/auth/register`).
- Enter your first name, last name, email, and phone number.
- Choose Customer as your registration role if you are buying on MarketRada (you can add vendor or service provider capabilities later from Settings).
- Create a password (at least 8 characters, with 1 uppercase letter and 1 number), then tap Create Account.
- Option B — Google: on Register or Login, tap Continue with Google (see Sign in or sign up with Google below).
What happens next
MarketRada creates your account and wallet. Email sign-ups receive a verification email before first password login. Google sign-ups complete phone and role on a short follow-up screen.
Good to know
Each email and phone number can only be used once. You do not need separate accounts to buy and sell — use Settings → Expand My Role after KYC to add a shop or service profile on the same login. Sign in or sign up with Google.
For Customers
What you'll need
Nothing required to browse. Allowing location access gives you distance sorting.
Steps
- From the home page (`/`) or Search (`/search`), type what you need — for example "Rice 50kg".
- On the home Shop Products section, use the list / map toggle to switch between table and map views.
- Tap a product to open its detail page (`/products/[slug]`), then open Compare (`/products/[slug]/compare`).
- On the comparison page, review vendors sorted by price, distance, or rating.
- Tap a vendor row to visit their shop page (`/shop/[slug]`) when you are ready to buy.
What happens next
Prices update live on the comparison page. The cheapest in-stock offer is highlighted so you can decide quickly.
Good to know
If location is denied, enter your area manually. Distance helps you judge travel cost. Why does MarketRada show distance?.
For Vendors
Shop Setup & KYC
What you'll need
A MarketRada account (email or Google), your 11-digit BVN and NIN, and profile names that match your identity records.
Steps
- Register at `/auth/register` and choose Vendor as your role, or sign up with Continue with Google and pick Vendor on the Google completion screen.
- If you used email, verify at `/auth/verify-email`, then sign in.
- Complete identity KYC first — open `/profile/kyc` from your dashboard or the vendor nudge banner.
- Submit your BVN or NIN (both may be required depending on the form flow).
- Wait for admin review. You will be notified when your status changes to verified.
- Once verified, create your shop — you can also reach this from Settings → Expand My Role if you registered as a customer first.
What happens next
Your vendor dashboard unlocks fully and you can create a shop. KYC Verified is the first trust signal buyers see.
Good to know
Complete KYC before shop setup and products — that is the recommended order. Names must match your BVN/NIN (about 80% match). You get up to 3 attempts; a 4th requires admin unlock. BVN and NIN cannot be shared across accounts.

For Service Providers
"Service Provider" on MarketRada covers general service profiles (plumbers, tailors, and more), delivery and logistics work, and collection point operations. You can do one or more of these from a single account — add categories to your profile and switch dashboards from the header when you also buy or sell.
General Services & Bookings
What you'll need
A MarketRada account (email or Google), your 11-digit BVN or NIN, and profile names that match your identity records.
Steps
- Register at `/auth/register` and choose Service Provider as your role, or use Continue with Google and pick Service Provider on the Google completion screen.
- If you used email, verify at `/auth/verify-email`, then sign in — you are redirected to the Service Provider Dashboard (`/service-provider`).
- Complete identity KYC at `/profile/kyc` (also linked from Settings and Expand My Role).
- Choose BVN or NIN, accept consent, and submit your details.
- Wait for verification. You are notified when your status changes.
- After KYC is verified, create your service profile. Optionally continue on the same KYC page to submit CAC or a professional licence.
What happens next
Verified providers can create a service profile and receive hire requests. If you already have a profile but KYC is still pending, you can open the dashboard for read-only status views — trust badges and collection point opt-in stay locked until identity is verified.
Good to know
Names must match your BVN/NIN records. KYC is required before creating a new service profile or enabling collection point mutations. You can add a service profile to an existing customer or vendor account via Settings → Expand My Role instead of registering again. KYC and identity verification.
